Welcome my Beautiful Soul Sister,
This week we open ourselves up to exploring the base of our wombs. We call this space the Root Chakra and it resides in the pelvic floor. The anatomy of this space includes the vagina, urethra, anus, the tip of the tailbone and the hui yin (space between the vagina and the anus), along with the legs and feet. This exploration takes us on a navigational journey of creating our own unique map. This first map (Sacred Root Map) helps us to identify the balances and imbalances of this physical space. Let us begin as cartographers as we explore this region of our bodies. Becoming rooted, Carole |

We want to explore for the sake of uncovering what lies at the base of our spine. As we reclaim our WILD selves we must dig deep into our physical and emotional awareness of what parts of our body makes us "feminine". We start this journey with our sacred Root Space.
Sit comfortably and start your examination process at the soles of your feet. Take notes along the way to document your findings. Gently apply pressure with your fingertips starting with the right foot. Make your way up the right leg, then switch to the left foot and leg. Look for soreness, observe markings, scars, skin discoloration, the color of your veins, feel for pain or sensitivities. Once you arrive at the base of the buttocks, check the sensations at the tailbone, palpitate around the anus, Hui Yin and around the vulva up to the pubic bone. You will now map out the inside of the vagina into the pelvic floor from the inside. Make sure your nails are cut short, hands are clean and enter either the middle finger or the thumb up inside the vagina. Gently feel around the vagina wall. Map out the areas that are tender, or sore. Take notes as to what comes up for you. What are the sensations? Are there any emotions? Once the vaginal wall is complete, insert the thumb to feel around the pelvic floor and indicate in your journal what you find here.

Grand Mother Serpent
Athesta is her spirit name. She reveals herself as a woman with long sinuous snakes in her hair. Athesta is the guardian of the direction of the South which is represented in our bodies as the Root Chakra; often depicted as the Kundalini (serpent coiled up at the base of the spine).
She symbolizes knowledge, sexuality, and healing. Her most universal gift is represented in the healing power of nature, which is gradual and incremental. I had the pleasure of speaking to Athesta and she shared with us some very important teachings. Please listen to the recording (Grand Mother Serpent - Athesta). |

Yoga
As we work with our Root Chakra, we want to utilize our poses in a way that will enhance our connection to this sacred space and ultimately to Pachamama (Mother Earth).
The first video is simply a demonstration of the cross-legged pose also known as Sukhasana - Easy Pose. The second video demonstrates 2 poses that enable you to connect with Grand Mother Serpent - Athesta through exposing the back body and the front body. Both these poses are known as restorative poses. |
Ceremonies
As you prepare yourself to explore and create your Sacred Root map, take the time to make it a special ceremony; one that invites both the elements of fire and water.
Light some candles, run a bath, pick out some essential oils that are soothing and calming. Listen to a chant with the Seed Sounds for the Root Chakra. https://youtu.be/NY2S-WILrpU Then sit, relax, connect with your breath and start your exploration of your pelvic floor. Once out of the water, journal your experience and what showed itself to you. |
