The Wisdom of the Uterus

The womb is one of the wisest places in the female  body and one of the most ignored.  Though we may listen to her in regard to birthing babies, we ought to be listening in terms of our whole creative lives.
We need to remember our way back to this kind of knowing - that the living energies of our bodies relate deeply to the movement of our lives.
Let's explore the patterns of creative flow that arise from the womb, the most powerful energy patterns for building and sustaining a woman's creative life and dreams.

Journal

Redefining 'Mother':
  • In your journals take a blank page, draw a circle.  Inside the circle write all the positive associations that come to mind when you think about the word mother.
  • Outside the circle, write any negative associations that come to mind when reflecting on mother.
Though both positive and negative words may relate to your mothering identity, think of the circle as your pelvic bowl and symbolic of your power to hold what you choose.  The way you conceive of mother defines how you relate to or reject your creative essence and affects how you inhabit or disown your mother place.
  • Reflect on your positive associations.  How do you connect with these attributes on a daily basis?  Choose 1 to 3 to work with and make a note of a specific action that will encourage these qualities in your body and creative life.
  • Reflect on your negative associations.  In what ways do these words call for a healing action?  Choose 1 - 3 to work with and make note of a specific action that overcomes these limitations allowing you to further reclaim your mothering ground.
  • Ponder all the mothers and other creative women you know.  Let the diversity of these women inspire you to expand and further redefine your own mothering form.  Give thanks for the mothers and the place of mothering in your life by bringing a gift to your altar from your heart.
